OneWordHealth2014This will be my first year choosing One Word for the year of 2014. This idea of One Word was inspired to me by Teressa of Window on the World, who in turn was inspired a few years ago by Melanie at Only a Breath.  Melanie is offering a blog button template (see mine to the left who chose One Word to ‘reflect’ on for the upcoming year.  Melanie, (gasp for breath) was inspired by Alece at OneWord365 The goal is to brainstorm a single word, or ‘theme.’     As Alece puts it on her website:

Forget New Year’s Resolutions/ Scrap that long list of goals you won’t remember three weeks from now anyway. Choose just one word. One word that sums up who you want to be or how you want to live.  One word that you can focus on every day, all year long. It will take intentionality and commitment, but if you let it, your one word will shape not only your your, but also you.  It will become the compass that directs your decisions and guides your steps. Discover the big impact one word can make. One word. 365 days. A changed life.

So, the big question….why did I pick Health as my One Word for 2014? Well, 2013 was not the greatest year for me health wise and and every aspect of my life suffered from it.  That’s not fair to them and certainly not fair me.  And my health has been getting worse over the last few years.  After becoming pretty ill at the end of 2013 and ringing in the New Year from a hospital bed, I decided I needed to focus on my health.  For so many reasons more than me. Health is defined in the by the Merriam Webster dictionary as the condition of being well or free from disease. I am very behind on posting on my blog, but I have been striving towards towards health since I cleared by the doctor.  It’s different this time than other times I said I was going to strive for health. I need my health to be successful at life, and I realize that now.  I have a gym membership, am working with a personal trainer, who is also having me keep a food diary (which he reviews).  I found a great a great counselor to help with the emotional and spiritual part of my body and make me healthier their. I’ll keep you updated with my progress with my #lifetimejourneyforhelf #selflove #weightloss #musclegain #changeforlife #iwillbehappy Sorry those are all more than one word, but they have been the hashtags I have been using!
